WEEK 1 — WORKSHOPS

AKIRA YOSHIDA

Up, but down, but fast, but slow, but wild, but sensitive

Dates: 25–30 August 2025
Schedule: 2h per day | 6 days
Focus: Technique, improvisation, choreography

Level: Intensive

This workshop transforms the language of breaking into new forms, qualities, and dynamics, focusing on weight distribution, transfer, and body tension. Participants will explore weight as a tool for quick and light movements while unlocking the creative potential of body parts beyond ground level. The workshop emphasizes transforming “tricks” into expressive “movements” by analyzing their structure and transitions. Finally, it shifts focus to using physicality as a means to develop theatricality and character creation.
Next to Akira’s workshop, you can participate in his performance project!

LUCIJA ROMANOVA

The Expressionist

Dates: 25–30 August 2025
Schedule: 2h15min per day | 6 days
Focus: Improvisation, Theatre, Choreography

Level: Intensive

The Expressionist is for dancers who want to deepen their connection with movement, enhance endurance, and expand their expressive range. The workshop begins with the articulation of the body into micro parts, creating space for body reprogramming. We build our bodies from scratch, offering a fresh approach to movement.
Through choreographed phrases, dancers explore movement from within, avoiding strict copying and focusing on experiencing each moment. The workshop also incorporates voice, pushing both mental and physical boundaries while playing with textures.
In the second part, emotions and mental states are expressed through both body and voice, blending physical virtuosity with emotional depth. It’s a journey toward dialogue and harmony between all levels of existence.

VASKO NASOVON

Impulses Gravity Rebounce Flow

Dates: 25–30 August 2025
Schedule: 2h15min per day | 6 days
Focus: Technique, Choreography

Level: Intensive

Vasko’s workshop focuses on working with impulses, gravity, rebounce, flow, and long movements. We’ll explore floorwork and levels, combining technical principles from contemporary dance, breaking, and acrobatics. His approach allows dancers to execute extreme physical movements without losing flow, playing with speed, softness, and other dynamic qualities. The class emphasizes technical precision and effortless execution—performing with power while staying grounded in smooth, fluid motion. We’ll work with both external and internal sources to build a strong physical foundation and dynamic expression.
